The Safety Net Scheme is a government initiative put in place to benefit people or familes who require alot of presciption medications in a calender year. Specifically, it is designed to save you money if you have considerable, ongoing medication needs. Once you have reached the safety net threshold for a calendar year, you are entitled to receive your government listed PBS medications at a reduced concessional rate or free until the end of the calender year.

It isn’t always easy to know how much you’ve spent, though, and we understand that. To ensure you don’t miss out on the benefits you’re entitled to, we can keep track of your safety net tally for you. Best of all, this is a completely FREE SERVICE

Likewise, you may prefer to keep your own safety net tally and inform the staff when you are close to the threshold. We will issue your Safety Net concession card as soon as your limit is reached, right there on the spot. As a result, the next time you need a prescription filled, you just need to present your card for the discounted PBS rate.
